Reflection about the book

                This project helps me appreciate the novel I chose more than before. Before, I don’t really like to read books. I thought that they were boring and there is so much hard vocabulary that I don’t understand. But then this project, it forces me to read. At first, I don’t really like it. But then, as I read more and more, I can’t stop and I can’t put the book down.  In my head, book doesn't really feel that bad.

                This story is fun. It’s like adventure and I’m sure that kids who don’t like reading books come to read this novel, they will love it. I saw this book many times at the book store. I never buy it. But then in school, I saw the same book so I try to get it and use it for my project. When I read more and more, I love it and I manage to finish the book.

                I feel really lucky that I chose this book to read. The way the author describes, I can just feel it. I feel like I’m in the situation that the main characters are in. It’s so excited the way the author describe. It just makes you can’t put the book down. I really recommend this book to everyone. No matter how old you are, if u read it, you won’t regret. 

Main Character's goals and dreams

            In this novel, there are four main characters. Each character has their own dreams, goals and motives. The main characters are Reynard Muldoon (Reynie), George Washington (Sticky), Kate Wetherall, Constance Contraire. First is Reynie. His dream is to somehow know about his family. He was left in the orphanage but then Ms. Perumal was so kind to him and wanted to adopt him as her child. Reynie also love Ms. Permural like a real mother. They love each other so much and make a happy family. For this story, his goal was to safe Mr. Benedict and Number Two and being them back safely.  He also has a motive that he wants his friends to be safe and doesn't make Ms. Perumal worried that much and disappointed.

            Second is Kate. She has a dream to find her father. Her father is lost long time ago and she wants to find him back. But then, the difference about Kate is that she accomplishes it. She found her father and stayed with him. But the goal that she had in mind is also the same with Reynie which is safe Mr. Benedict and Number Two back safely. They don’t want to lose more people in their lives anymore.

            The third one is Sticky. His dream is that he wishes that his parents would care for him more and see him as their son not as their benefit to find money. He wants to feel important in his family and feel the love. After all of this happen, his parents now understand him and feel guilty in themselves and saying sorry to Sticky. Sticky’s goal too is to save Mr. Benedict and Number Two.

            The last one is Constance. Her dream was to be Mr. Benedict’s official daughter. She lost her parents when she was a very little child and lived in the library. Mr. Benedict can’t do that yet because he needs to make a document which will prove that Constance existed. Constance is like everyone else too. Her goal also wants save Mr. Benedict and Number Two.

The Mysterious Benedict Society and the Perilous Journey Summary Page 108-440

Milligan is watching the Ten Men who are standing near the boat house that what they will do. Milligan decide that he'll go there and clear the way (knock the Ten Men down). That's because there's people inside the boat house and they know about where Mr. Benedict is. The children is going to help by waiting until Milligan get the Ten Men away and they'll go inside the boat house to talk to the people. Milligan deceived the Ten Men to follow him to the other way. The then children went inside that boat house and saw a guy name Risker (he's the grandson of Han de Reizeger). Risker won't tell the children easily. But at last he tells the children where Mr. Benedict is and what Mr. Benedict says. Milligan was in front of the boat house when the children came out. Milligan arrange the plane for them to go to the island. So the children fly to the island.

After the children and Milligan reached the island, they discuss where to go next according to the clue Mr. Benedict left them. Milligan found many chimes that could make a pattern out of it. Constance connects it together and makes a pattern. It's a map. There's a dotted line which represent a mode code. Sticky figures out the message which is the clue that they need to go to the village to find another clue. The children's me Milligan went into a village and trying the find the clue. Reynie found a house which is clean like someone sweeps it before. Then the children's and Milligan comes inside and see many can food and blankets. After they've eaten they try to search for clues. Later they found the clue; Number Two comes into the house and found the children and Milligan. After discussing the plan and trying to ask Number Two about the place where she escapes, she doesn’t really answer.

Milligan went out to check out something and come back with the answer of the "twin moon" (which is related to the clue). So Sticky and Constance will look after Number Two and watch out the Ten Men while Milligan, Kate, and Reynie will go and look at the twin moon. After some time the children gets together to the house. Then the children take turns look over the house. Sticky closed his eyes and when he opens again, the Ten Men was down on the house. The children ran to hide but then the Ten Men caught them. When the children are brought to the place where Mr. Benedict is, they try to help Mr. Benedict and get out of this place. The children try to escape. They fought with the Ten Men and then try to escape.

All of the sudden, Milligan came out from nowhere and help the children to get out by fighting the Ten Men. Later, Mr. Curtain appears and tricks the children. But luckily Milligan was there. As they climb the mountain to escape, Mr. Benedict sleeps due to his narcolepsy. So the children help carry Mr. Benedict out of the mountain while Milligan is fighting with the Ten Men. After getting out of the mountain and Mr. Benedict woke up, they found Milligan who is extremely injured. They all ran to the bay and was surrounded by the Ten Men. But just in time, the Shortcut and the crew come to save them. So all of them went into the Shortcut ship and hide form the Ten Men. Just in that time, the Ten Men plants a bomb and then Kate went in and throws the bomb away. The Ten Men and Mr. Curtain run away. So after this all ends, the children and everyone went to Mr. Benedict’s home safely without any troubles.

The children were waiting in the room waiting for Captain Noland to come and so Constance remember the conversation about her and Mr. Benedict about the "gift" she had. The gift if Constance is somehow like a reading if minds and can predict things by pattern. Before they could ask more about Constance's new gift, Captain Noland comes in and greets the children. Captain Noland said that he talked to Mr. Benedict and telling that he on the way to Lisbon. Captain Noland said that Mr. Benedict leave the letter to him for the surprise he made for the children. He will give the letter later he said. The children were happy to know they could track Mr. Benedict and Number Two. Not for long, Cannonball comes in and called Captain Noland for some emergency situation. So Captain Noland went out and so the children continue discuss about Constance's new gift. Constance said it's some kind of psychic. After talking for a long while, all of the children sleep except for Kate who is always hyper. After a long long time Reynie wakes up and Kate showed the letter that Captain Noland gave her while all of the rest are sleeping. It's kind of a riddle that talks about sticky castle. After Reynie reads them, Captain Noland comes in and brings the kids' supper. Reynie let sticky read and he said that the castle is in Lisbon. Captain Noland said that he will arrange the taxi so that they can go when they reach the port. After they talked for so long Captain Noland suggest that everyone should go to sleep. Then everyone slept.

Next morning after the children reach the port, Cannonball went to the castle with the children while Captain Noland needs to do his business with his guests first. After Cannonball and the kids reach the castle, Cannonball said that he needs to go help Captain Noland about 1-2 hrs and he'll be back. The children go and search for where the letter is telling but then they saw Jackson (Mr. Curtain's trusted executive) and that make the children stop and hide from him for a while. While they are hiding, Reynie read the letter again to figure out the clue. Reynie then found the answer the next clue is on under the cannons that is 10 meters far away from them. Kate said she'll be the one will get the envelop clue without letting Jackson spot her. Everything works fine except when she's coming back there's a lady who wants Kate to take picture with them. Kate refuses and walks away but then Jillson (Jackson executive partner) spotted her and so Jillson followed her. The children run away and get out of the castle and read the clue. They figure out that the clue told them to go to the train and open locker number "37" and get another clue there. The children went to get the clue and try to figure out the clue. Then they figured out that the clue is talking about Constance's pendant. As they look at the crystal on the pendant, they see Holland map and a red mark which is on a place called Thernbaakagen. The children get a train to get there. The children ride the train to go to Thernbaakagen. Reynie said it’s better to drop at Naansemegen and go to Thernbaakagen by other ways because maybe there're Mr. Curtain's people waiting to catch them. The children went down at Naansemegen and rent a bike to get to Thernbaakagen.

After they get to Thernbaakagen they went straight to the science museum. They went to the top floor to the library and meet a librarian named Sophie. She's a nice woman and helps them find the papers they need. After reading the papers (in Dutch) Sticky explains to them about the papers. The papers were about Mr. Benedict’s parents that have the same narcolepsy (the disease of sleeping anytime without the person knowing) and they are finding the way to cure it. There's this plant that Han de Reizeger (Mr. Benedict’s parent friend) found which can cure the disease which is called "Duskwort". It's a very rare plant that many people said it’s already extinct. There's a map but it's gone from the papers. Then there's this man called Mr. Schuyler who came and then he tells about what happen. Mr. Benedict come here with number two and ask for the map but Mr. Schuyler don't let so Mr. Benedict need to get it himself then  he returned. That same afternoon Mr. Curtain and his executives came back and ask for a photocopy of the map. After the children know that Mr. Benedict is heading to the island (from the map) with Mr. Curtain following, so the children is going to go to the island.

The children traveled by bike and entered the city.  The children spot some unusual man and woman, so Reynie went to talk to them. The man answer and tell them the riddle that Mr. Benedict leave for them to see whether it’s the children or some other people who will get the key hotel After solve the riddle, the children went in the hotel and enter the room. While the children are on their way, Daatje (the woman that was with the man that tells the riddle) called the Ten Men (Mr. Curtain executive that is following the children) that the children are in the hotel. The children went in and found another envelop with money and told them to rest. Reynie suspect Daatje will take the money but she didn't so he realize that she called the Ten Men and tell where they are. The children are going to escape but it's too late. The Ten Men comes in the room and ask for the paper but then Kate went in and fought with them. The Ten Men fought back and then warn them to give them the paper. Then Milligan came in and knock the Ten Men down. Milligan leads down the way to escape them tell everyone to get into the police that he had rented before and they went off. They stop at the abandoned warehouse. They discussed about how they will go the island.

                The children and their guardians, including Rhoda, were discussing about the rules in the house that children shouldn’t talk or discuss anything with anyone except for Rhoda and Milligan. After finishing their discussion, Rhoda gave the children the “surprise” or the riddle that Mr. Benetic had made to give to the children for their surprise (but sadly, Mr. Benetic was kidnapped). After their discussion and the giving of the riddle, the children went up to Constance’s room to discuss about the things that is happening and decide that they should solve the riddle and go to find Mr. Benetic themselves not with others (or else Mr. Curtain’s group will find them out). Reynie opens the riddle that Rhoda gave them awhile ago, and the riddle is a poem which makes no sense at all. Kate and Constance complain the poem is very hard to understand.

                Not long after that Reynie figured it out that it should be in some of the dictionaries. The children went to search all over the house. They can do it fast from the help of sticky that he can remember most of where the dictionaries are. After they search and search there’s this guard who just speak out about the old dictionary that Mr. Benetic as using. So the children want to see that dictionary but then the guards won’t let them in the study room. So the children went back to Constance’s bedroom to find a way to get into the study room.

Then at the time, Sticky saw that Moocho is coming to visit Kate but the he is having a problem with the guards down there. While Moocho is having the problem with the guards, that buys time for the kids to go into the study room and get the dictionary. Kate wet off first and has the dictionary in her hand without anyone seeing her. They all went back to Constance’ bedroom and open the pages of the dictionary one by one. As Reynie opens the dictionary page by page, there’s a notes. As they read it, Constance figures out the riddle which is “TAKE THE SHORTCUT”. While they are thinking about what shortcut it is, Rhonda called hem down to talk to Moocho. After they have talked to Moocho, they came back to Constance’s bedroom and think about the shortcut.

At that moment, Sticky remembers the article in the newspaper about the cargo ship…MV shortcut. The kids need to head to the dock. So then they use the chute from Kate and Reynie writes note to the guardians and Rhoda. The kids took the bus to the dock. There’s this guy in the dock that named Canonball. He welcomed them and led them to the ship. After the kids meet the captain, Cannonball offer them a tour. The kids tour around the ship for a long time.

                   From the continuation of the first book, the 4 children which are so called "talented children", come back and meet together again. These children are not an ordinary children, they have talents that nobody has. First one is Reynard Muldoon or Reynie. he's an eleven years old boy that lives with Ms. Perumal, his stepmother ( Perumal adopted Reynie on the first book.), in Stonetown Orphanage. He is talented in problem solving, logical deduction, and reading people's emotions. He can solve puzzles that most of the peole can't do. The second one is George Washington or Sticky. He is an eleven years old boy with tea-skinned boy with a bald head. He will always polish his glasses when he's nevrous. He is talented that what he reads, stick in his head. The third one is Kate Wetherall or The Great Kate Weather Machine. She has a father called Miliganm which she just found out recently. He is a optismistic blonde hair, blue eyes, and fair skin and always carried a red bucket, which is used to keep her stuffs. She is talented that she's resourceful and athletic, possessing extreme agility skills. The last one is Constanc Contraire or Connie/Connie girl. She a short but extremely intelligent, stubborn and often unpleasant girl. She's adopted by Mr. Benetic. She has an ability to write clever and whimsical poems, and her ultra-sensitive mind. they are all secret agents. These children is meeting again after not seeing each tohers for years.
      
                  Mr. Benetic called them back to tell them a news about the things he keeps as a secret. Reynie and Sticky decides to come and meet at Kate's farm first and all of them can go to Mr. Benedict together. Reynie's truck broken down ont eh way so he went to Kate by some other cars while Ms. Perumal wait for the truck to fix them follow Reynie to Kate's farm. Reynie and Kate discuss about their living how they are. They also ask each other about what Mr. Benetic is going to tell them. Later Sticky reaches the farm together with his parents and Ms. Perumal. All of them have a little chat before they went for dinner and sleep. all three of them still keep talking about what Mr. Benedict is going to tell them.

                On the late morning, all of them travel to Mr. Benedict house by wagon. While they're on the wagon, reynie has his own daydreaming thoughts. He is thinking about what Mr. Benetic tells him on the last mission. After the last mission, Reynie went to Mr. Benetic to talk about his nightmares that he had recently. Some of it is like while he's sleeping, he dreamed that there're snakes all over the place. From people, everything turns into snakes. Reynie thought that after the mission everything will be better but then it turns worse. After Mr. Benetic hears about this he told Reynie to stay calm and tell him that this is usual because Mr. Benetic himself al so get these dreams too. After Reynie snap out of his thoughts, he went to talk to Kate and Sticky who are talking about Sticky holidays.

                While the wagon is travling to Mr. Benetic's house, the mail man came to give the telegraph that Rhonda ( Mr. Benetic  intelligent assistance) send to warn them not to come to Mr. Benedict's house because it's dangerous but it's too late. After all three childrens plus their guardians reaches Mr. Benetic's house, they found out that Mr. benetic and Number Two got kidnapped. Rhoda was left in the house. After asking all the questions, the children knows that it's Mr. Curtain (Mr. Benetic's brother) has kidnapped Mr. Benedict and Number Two. Mr.Curtain left a note and a pigeon on the table. So now the children are trying to figure out where Mr. Benedict and Number Two is kidnapped to.

Spectator Sport: The Bedroom

The noise outside makes me forcefully open my eye lid and sit up. Cold wind swiftly blow pass through every inch of my hair. Sound of the wind rustle with the leaves of the trees outside. The little sound of the birds chirping creates a natural music that wakes me up every morning. All the building scenario and trees on the balcony is a fantastic view. The view bugile me into the deep thoughts of memories. The wind passes through one window to another. But once you shut the entrance of the sound, everything will turn into silence. Even a pin dropping is loud as a thunderstorm. Once you move an inch, the noise will be created. In this personal room everything is calm and peaceful. It’s a place where you could express every moment of your life. You can enthusiastically do anything you want. You can shout as loud as you want, cry as hard as you want, and scream as feral as you want. The place where you feel safe and harmless is called bed room.

Colors are all mixed-up; with all pink, blue, red, and yellow furniture. Beds, wardrobes, drawers are all the things you see around. Books categorially arranged in the shelf. It might look ordinary and normal, but the memories here are different as heaven and hell. Gently pull the curtain of the window and welcome the light of the apprehensive new day. As I walk towards the balcony, the sparkle light comes from the water vapors which glitter as it reflects with the sunlight on the leaves of the plants. Morning view from the bedroom is the most gorgeous view ever.

Even though people will think I’m crazy. But I don’t find anywhere safe, peaceful, and enjoyable than my bedroom. Bedroom is the place I keep stuff, do anything and the best of all is the place where I can sleep comfortably. This may sound dubious but the feeling of sleeping is the best feeling ever. If you notice, sleeping on the table and school won’t make you sleep as deep as your bed.

 I look around before sleeping, all the darkness surrounding me. It whispers gradually at me to sleep. Someday it’s hard to close your eyes, but every day I try closing them tenderly. All the valuable and stupendous memories just flash back into my head, keeping me awake from this tenebrous room. Then for a while my eye lid starts to get heavier each second. And for the next moment, the room just went still and peaceful. Everything stops and went quiet. Everything just devours into the darkness and went inaudible for the night.

One word that describe me

People like my family and friends call me different names and describe me in different words. Some say I’m crazy, clumsy, shy, sensitive, honest and many more. There are so many words that could describe a person or me. Everyone changes and when they grow up they won’t be the same as they are now. The word now that describe me is sensitive. I don’t know why I am like this but my parents or you could say my mom, she told me that I’m a very sensitive person. The word sensitive doesn’t mean I am an untouchable person or etc. But it too means something else.

Sensitive, to me or that use to describe me, is that I am really into something. For example hurt will be hurt happy will be happy mean will be mean. Sometimes for the little things I can get hurt or mad or happy and etc. Why do I think this word best describe me? That’s because the word sensitive means so many things and which most of them describe how I am. I am a sensitive person because sometimes just a little thing, it can even makes me cry or when something hurt has come through I can be very hurt. Basically it’s that even little things can make me feel so much.

Sensitive describe my personality too. Like, I can be mean and kind at the same time. If the people around me make me happy I will be kind to. But if they are mean I too will be mean back even though it’s just a little thing that can make me mad. This word describes me by my attitude and personality. The reason I chose this word is because this word describe me in many ways. It is also my mother’s word that always use it describe me. It isn’t a good word to describe a person too but still that’s me!
